![]() Snell’s Law states that for any given pair of media, the ratio of sine of angle of incidence to sine of angle of refraction is always constant. This law was discovered in 1621 by Willebrord Snell, a Dutch astronomer and mathematician. Snell’s law, also known as the law of refraction, is a law that states the relationship between the angles of incidence and refraction when light passes from one medium to another, such as air to water, glass to air, and so on. The point of incidence is the point at which the incident ray makes contact with the surface. The ray that bounces back from the surface is known as a reflected ray.Ī normal line is one that is perpendicular to a surface. The incident ray is the light ray that strikes the reflecting surface.
